Shirley Olson

Shirley Olson has served as an educational consultant with educational services companies for the last 10 years, providing professional development in major areas of student assessment and accountability, school improvement practices, and school leadership development. Prior to working in the private sector, Shirley spent over 30 years as a public school administrator, holding district office positions in Oregon, New York and California in a range of school districts. The last six years were focused on school improvement work at the school and district level on four islands in Hawaii.

As a professional development trainer, consultant, mentor and advisor, Shirley has a passion for meeting the needs of ALL school learners, including teachers and administrators. She has maintained professional affiliations in ASCD, COSA, ACSA, Learning Forward and PDK in order to stay current on educational issues. She has delivered presentations at international, national, state and local conferences and symposiums. Shirley attained her doctorate of education in educational leadership at University of Southern California and completed her BA and MEd at University of Oregon. Shirley has working knowledge of ATI and Classroom Assessment for Student Learning and believes that professional development only happens in a collaborative, collegial environment.
